TESE – Testicular Sperm Extraction
TESE is a testicular tissue sampling performed on men to obtain sperm for fertility treatment.
This may be necessary at
- Patients with very little or no sperm in the ejaculate
- Patients with a closure of the ejaculation channel
- after several unsuccessful artificial inseminations
Depending on the patient’s request, the procedure is performed under local anesthesia or under anesthesia by a urologist. However, to find enough sperm, it may be necessary to take several small tissue samples.
After obtaining the testicular tissue, the existing sperm are assessed. Then the tissue is frozen with us and stored in the liquid nitrogen tank until the woman is ready for an egg collection. Then the tissue can be thawed and used for the fertility treatment. When using TESE material, only ICSI therapy may be used.
We cooperate with urologists in Dortmund and Essen, who can perform this procedure for you. Then the tissue is brought to us and processed further.
